Altium International Sp. z o.o. specializes in providing apparatus, accessories, and complete solutions for the identification and analysis of substances in terms of their composition, structure, physical, chemical, and biological properties. The company offers analytical equipment such as gas and liquid chromatographs, mass detectors, ICPMS spectrometers, capillary electrophoresis devices, bioanalyzers, microarray scanners, and metabolic cell analyzers. Altium International's products find applications in scientific research laboratories, institutes, and various sectors including quality control, food research, petrochemical, chemical, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and food industries.
Employing over 100 employees posed a challenge related to effective internal communication. Reaching all employees, especially considering diverse age groups, required a new approach. Existing tools, such as email, did not meet expectations, prompting the company to seek innovative solutions.
Altium International opted to introduce an Intranet platform based on Microsoft SharePoint as the central point of communication. This choice was justified by the earlier migration of some company resources to the Microsoft cloud. The Intranet became a tool enabling efficient information exchange across all areas of the company's operations.
Rollout
Four stages, from auditing existing communication to the platform's ongoing development — each one building on what the previous one taught us.
Gathering needs and expectations for the Intranet platform from over 100 employees across different age groups. External audit of existing internal communication, based mainly on email.
SharePoint platform configuration with categorization into departments. Launch of a contract circulation management module with access levels matched to roles.
Intranet rollout for all employees and promotion across teams, so communication actually moved off email and onto the new tool.
Continuous expansion of the Intranet with new content. Publication of engaging news based on interest analysis.
Benefits
Intuitive access to information on the SharePoint Intranet platform. Real-time communication through notifications of new posts. Employee integration through social tools, fostering a positive atmosphere.
Measurable communication effectiveness through audience analysis and Intranet visits. Employee opinion gathering through surveys and comments. Easier knowledge flow through a single place for uploading files and documents.
